Power flushing an existing heating system is extremely beneficial for both the boiler and the radiators. It removes dirt and corrosive build up (black sludge) in the system and helps to prolong the life of the boiler. A Power flushing unit is attached to the boiler and each radiator, in turn, is flushed. Hot water with an added scale breaking chemical is pumped round and repeatedly flushed until clear of dirt. Once the whole system is flushed, it will be refilled with the addition of a chemical inibitor which will help to prevent any further build up of carbon and corrosive deposits. This will also lubricate and protect the components of the heating system.
We strongly recommend that when a new/replacement boiler is fitted to an existing heating system, the system is power flushed to protect and prolong the life of the new boiler.
