The Vaillant auroTHERM exclusive vacuum tube solar collector have been designed to give maximum energy absorption. David A. Farrer Ltd was an approved installer on the previous DTI ‘Clear Skies programme and initially on the Low Carbons building program when it was free for installers to join. When the MCS fees came into force for installers on the scheme, the cost of membership and meeting the criteria for a small company our size is so high (around £5000 per year in man hours, office work, insurance, extra paperwork, training, health and safety, scheme fees and assessment fees) prevents us from making this a realistic investment in our business.
The new Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) announced in Oct 2010 and which commenced in November 2011 is something which we were actively looking to become part of both as installers and via our suppliers. However this is now being superceded by the latest ‘Green Deal’ and to be honest, the whole renewables industry, although less dangerous than gas or electricity is now so over regulated and the incentive schemes so changeable and confusing that it is no surprise how few people are taking them seriously.
